TROY – Troy University will host the midshipmen of the U.S. Naval Academy in its annual Salute to Veterans football game on Nov. 10, the birthday of the U.S. Marine Corps and the second meeting between the Midshipmen and the Trojans.

In honor of their service, the University is developing  special ticket packages for active duty personnel, members of the Reserve components, members of the National Guard and all service veterans. Details of the special offer will be released as soon as planning is completed.

Central to the game’s festivities will be pre-game and half-time shows by the Sound of the South saluting the nation’s veterans and current members of the military from all branches. A special emphasis will be placed on the Marines’ birthday, and other special events are being planned for the day.

“Not only are our military members the backbone of the nation, but they are the underpinning of our University,” said Dr. Jack Hawkins Jr., Chancellor and a combat Marine officer who served in Vietnam.

“Every year we salute our Armed Forces, but this year’s game with Navy provides an unparalleled opportunity to focus our attention on those men and women who, Trojans or not, keep us safe and defend our freedom every day,” he said.
