TROY, AL - Officers of the Troy Police Department, along with Agents of the Alabama Alcoholic Beverage Control Board executed a search warrant to a residence in the 100 Block of Carroll Street at approximately2:30 pm Thursday,  according to information released by Chief Jimmy Ennis.

During the search of the residence, ABC Agents found what is believed to be Homemade distilled Whiskey (Moonshine) and a small amount of Marijuana along with Drug paraphernalia.

The person responsible for the residence, Janice T. Grandberry was ticketed for the possession of untaxed alcohol and released at the scene.

The narcotics and Drug Paraphernalia were taken into evidence for possible further action at a later date.   

No other person(s) at the residence at the time of the execution of the warrant were cited or arrested.

Convicted Troy rapist sentenced to 85 years in prison

TROY, AL (WSFA) - The Troy man convicted of raping two women in the Hunter's Mountain Mobile Home Park was sentenced to prison time this morning in Pike County.

Andre Lamon Ellis was sentenced to 85 years in prison for each of two first degree rape convictions. Ellis was also sentenced to 25 years for a second degree burglary charge.

Ellis was convicted back on January 18. His sentences are to be served concurrently.

District Attorney Anderson applauded the sentence handed down by the Court, stating that the strong sentence “gives these victims a sense of justice and further serves as a message to would-be offenders that this will not be tolerated in Pike County.  Anyone who perpetrates such a crime in the Twelfth Circuit is going to spend many years behind bars.”

Ellis' attorney is expected to appeal the sentence.

TROY, AL (WSFA) - Officials with Troy University say a second person - this time a Troy student - has been arrested in connection with a February 4 armed robbery on campus.

According to the university, a student by the name of Christopher Cook was arrested and charged with robbery first degree in connection with the incident.

A 20-year-old student reported being robbed by three black males outside of Alumni Hall.

Authorities previously arrested a 14-year-old juvenile in connection with the same robbery. One suspect is still at large.

TROY – A 14-year old has been arrested and charged with robbery first degree in connection with an armed robbery on the Troy University campus in Troy.

The juvenile petition was submitted by Troy University Police, with the assistance of the Troy Police Department, and the juvenile is currently being held in the city’s Juvenile Detention Center at the Troy City Jail. Because of the juvenile status of the suspect, his name is not being released by law enforcement.

“Being able to make an arrest in this case so quickly has required a lot of team work and coordination between Troy Police and University Police, and I greatly appreciate the efforts of Chief Jimmy Ennis and his department,” said University Chief John McCall. “It’s yet another example of the close working relationship we have in Troy and Pike County to fight crime at all levels.”

Early Monday evening, a 20-year old male student was robbed outside Alumni Hall.

Troy Authorities searching for armed robbery suspects

TROY, AL (WSFA) - Troy University Police and the Troy Police Department are working together to investigate an armed robbery that occurred on the Troy campus.

Authorities say around 7:40 p.m. Monday, a 20-year-old male student reported the robbery near the all-male dormitory - Alumni Hall.

The student reported his cell phone and other personal items were taken.

Police now say they are searching for three black males in their late teens or early 20's in connection with this incident.

Anyone with information regarding the incident, or who witness suspicious persons or vehicles, are urged to call police. Man convicted in Troy Mobile Home Park rapes

TROY, AL (WSFA) - A man has been found guilty for two rapes that set a Troy Mobile Home community on edge in March 2012.

Andre Lamon Ellis was arrested on April 25, 2012 after a manhunt ensued for the person responsible for two rapes and an armed robbery in the Hunter's Mountain Mobile Home Park.

Police released a sketch shortly after the first rape was reported that led to the discovery of a second victim, and ultimately, Ellis' capture.

A Pike County Jury found Ellis guilty today on two counts of rape first degree and one count of burglary second degree.

The Pike County District Attorney's Office says it will be seeking a sentence of life without parole for the rape charges and life in prison for the burglary charge.

Montgomery, Alabama – Joshua Roland Fuller Gilley, 26, of Enterprise, Alabama, and Westly Robert Rogers, 25, of Ozark, Alabama, and Melissa Lynn Mione McGee, 37, of Daleville, Alabama have all been sentenced after pleading guilty to carjacking an Isuzu Rodeo in which three children, ages, 2 ½ years, 1 ½ years, and 2 months old were riding in the backseat; and to kidnapping those same three young children, announced U.S. Attorney, George L. Beck, Jr.. 

Gilley was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Mark Fuller to 46 months imprisonment after pleading guilty to carjacking.  Rogers was sentence by Judge Fuller to 32 months imprisonment after pleading to carjacking and McGee was sentence by the same judge to 210 months imprisonment after pleading guilty to kidnapping.
