TROY, AL (WSFA) - The Troy Police Department is confirming the arrest of a man in connection with the December 11, 2012 attempted murder and burglary of an apartment in the 500 block of Gibbs Street.

Police Chief Jimmy Ennis says Myron Jermaine Flowers was taken into custody Monday. Flowers and another male allegedly broke into the apartment while the two victims were not at home. 

The victims returned home to find two suspects dressed in black wearing ski masks.

PIKE COUNTY, AL (WSFA) - Two people are dead following a shooting in the Pike County community of Tarentum on Sunday night.

The shooting took place at around 7:30 p.m.

OPP, AL (WSFA) - Opp police are confirming three arrests after a burglary in progress investigation started Thursday with units being called to the Carriage House Apartments.

Officers arrived on the scene around 11pm and were told by a tenant that she'd been confronted by three men wearing masks and carrying weapons as she was walking up the stairs to her apartment. The woman fled the scene and called police.

Opp Police say they were contaced by Alabama State Troopers, who along with the Covington County Sheriff's Department, was conducting a driver's safety checkpoint on U.S. Highway 331.

TROY, AL - Troy Police arrested a Troy University student Friday in connection with trafficking marijuana at Easy Street Apartments on George Wallace Drive according to information released by Chief Jimmy Ennis. 

The minor is identified as Jessie Lawhorn a 19-year-old white male from Panama City, FL. 

Troy Police and US Postal Inspectors executed a search warrant at the Lawhorn’s apartment today at approximately 11:30 AM.  The Alabama Department of Corrections K-9 Unit assisted in the search. 

Officers seized approximately four pounds of marijuana, digital scale and drug paraphernalia. 

Lawhorn has been transferred to the Pike County Jail and his bond has been set at $50,000. 

This case is still under investigation.

Troy Police arrested 45-year-old Eric Dewayne Hunter, a black male from Goshen, for robbery first degree Monday (11/19) at approximately 2:45 pm according to information released by Chief Jimmy Ennis.

Hunter was arrested in connection with the Sunday (11/3) afternoon armed robbery of a female at the B.P. Gas Station on US 231 South at approximately 6:30 p.m.

A subsequent investigation led to Hunter’s arrest at the Troy Police Department Monday after TPD Detectives obtained an arrest warrant.

Man arrested for robbery of an 88-year-old

Troy Police arrested 29-year-old Dujuan Larial Mency, a black male from Brundidge, for robbery first degree Friday at approximately 9:30 am according to information released by Chief Jimmy Ennis.

Mency was arrested in connection with the Tuesday (11/13) afternoon armed robbery of an 88-year-old victim at his residence on US Highway 231 at approximately 4:00 p.m.

He was taken into custody in Brundidge and transported to the Troy Police Department without incident.

Mency allegedly went to the victim’s residence Tuesday to pay back money to the victim for a female who borrowed money from the victim on Monday.  The black male suspect pulled a pistol on the victim and demanded his wallet during the robbery.   An undisclosed amount of property (jewelry & jewelry box) were taken from the victim during the robbery. Mency left the residence and got into an unknown vehicle and fled in an unknown direction of travel.

TROY PD:Wheeler to be returned to Troy next week

Suroy Manquel Wheeler, 34-years-old, will be picked up November 12th to be returned to Troy by a prisoner transport company from the Ventura County jail in California in connection with the death of a Troy woman according to information released by Chief Jimmy Ennis.

 Wheeler will be returned to Troy to face the murder charges against him in this case.  His bond has been set at $100,000.00.

He has been charged in the Saturday October 27th murder of Melissa Shipman.  Her body was found in her apartment that same day.
