Troy murder suspect waives extradition from California

Suroy Manquel Wheeler waived extradition in Oxnard, CA in connection with the death of Melissa Shipman of Troy according to information released by Chief Jimmy Ennis Friday.

 Wheeler will be returned to Troy to face the murder charges against him in this case.  He is expected to be back in Troy within the next two weeks.  TPD will contract with a prisoner transport company to return Wheeler to Troy.

He has been charged in the Saturday October 27th murder of Shipman.  Her body was found in her apartment that same day.

Chief Ennis received information last week that Wheeler was possibly in California.  Wheeler was reported to be at the Norwalk bus terminal in Los Angeles.  He was trying to get to Oxnard, CA.

TROY, AL (WSFA) - The Troy Police Department is searching for a suspect in connection with a Saturday afternoon murder investigation.

Authorities were called to the scene at Troy Villa Apartments on Henderson Street around 3 p.m. Saturday. Inside the apartment in question they found the body of an unidentified 29-year-old female.

Police are now searching for 33-year-old Troy resident Suroy Manquel Wheeler in connection with the crime.

Troy Police Chief Jimmy Ennis urges anyone with information of the whereabouts of Suroy Wheeler to contact the Troy Police Department at 566-0500 or the Secret Witness Line at 566-5555.

Attempted murder suspect surrenders to police

Troy Police arrested Robert Lee Hooten, a 36-year-old black male Tuesday for the attempted murder that occurred Thursday September 20th according to information released by Chief Jimmy Ennis.

Hooten turned himself in to Troy Police today at approximately 4:00 pm.

Troy Police responded to a reported shooting at approximately 10:30 p.m. on the 800 block of North 3 Notch Street Thursday night at the BP Station.  When police arrived on scene they were advised that victim had been transported to the Troy Regional Medical Center’s Emergency Room for treatment of a gunshot wound to the leg.

TPD Detectives obtained a warrant for the arrest of Robert Lee Hooten, a 36-year-old black male for attempted murder.  His bond has been set at $50,000.00.

Shondra D Warren Bland a 48-year-old black female was arrested at approximately 3:30 p Friday September 14th at the Troy Police Department for theft of property 1st degree.

Bland allegedly took an undisclosed amount of money from the victim.  She was transferred to The Pike County Jail. 

Her bond was set at $20,000.00 and she was transferred to the Pike County Jail.

Troy PD: Man arrested following armed robbery at Doctor's Office

Troy Police arrested Nicholas Dandre Stallworth, a 24-year-old black male from Troy today at approximately 12:00 a.m. in connection with 2 counts of robbery 1st degree according to information released by Chief Jimmy Ennis.

Officers were dispatched at approximately 3:00 a.m. in reference to an armed robbery in the parking lot of doctor’s office on Park Street. 

Stallworth allegedly confronted the 2 victims in this case at gunpoint at that location and demanded victims to give him everything in their pockets.  Cash and a cell phone was taken from the victims during the robbery.  The suspect fled the scene on foot behind the doctor’s office.

A subsequent investigation by TPD led to Stallworth’s arrest early Friday morning on Charold Street in Troy.

Troy woman arrested for selling fake raffle tickets

On Thursday, September 6th, Troy Police arrested 43-year-old Lisa Gail Haynes on charges of theft by deception, second degree.

Haynes was trying to sell raffle tickets for a one-year-old cancer patient at a local school.

The tickets were being sold for a $100 gas card at a cost of $2 per ticket. She sold about 493 tickets and made about $986 off the deal. 

Haynes was placed in the Troy City Jail then transferred to the Pike County Jail with a bond of $2500.
