Brundidge man arrested for attempted kidnapping after incident at Troy DHR Building

TROY, AL (WSFA) - A Brundidge man has been arrested and charged with one count of attempted kidnapping and for breaking and entering a vehicle.

Authorities were dispatched to the Troy DHR Building on Three Notch Street around 11:15 a.m. after receiving a call about a subject with a gun in the building. Authorities swept the building and couldn't find the subject. After a brief investigation they learned about an incident that occurred in building's parking lot.

Police say 24-year-old Brundidge resident Benjamin Franklin Williams was arrested this afternoon for attempted kidnapping and breaking and entering a vehicle.

Williams is being held at the Troy City Jail on $7,500 bond.

Montgomery, Alabama – Six members of a local drug trafficking organization were sentenced yesterday, announced George L. Beck, Jr., United States Attorney for the Middle District of Alabama.  U.S. District Judge Myron H. Thompson sentenced Eric Jerome Parker, 30, of Troy; Christopher Darrin Alloway, 23, of Troy; Ronisha Rawshon Carter, 21, of Troy; Willie Pereze Boggan, 27, of Greenville; Brian Javoris Walker, 30, of Greenville; and Kelvin Dewayne Anderson, 33, of Dothan, on drug trafficking charges.  They join Jason Terrell Davenport, 21, of Troy, who was sentenced on July 5, 2012.

Former Troy Police Officer indicted on multiple sex crimes against a child

TROY, AL (WSFA) - A recently retired Troy Police Officer has been arrested for multiple sex crimes against a child under the age of 12.

According to Alabama Attorney General Luther Strange's office, 61-year-old Willie Toney was arrested this afternoon by agents of the Alabama Bureau of Investigation and the Pike County Sheriff's Office.

Toney was indicted by a Pike County grand jury today on charges of one count of first-degree rape, two counts of first degree sodomy, and two counts of first degree sexual abuse - all crimes were allegedly committed against a child victim under the age of 12.

If convicted, Toney faces a maximum penalty of life imprisonment for each count of first-degree rape and first-degree sodomy, which are class A felonies, and up to 20 years for each count of first-degree sexual abuse, which is a class B felony.

Toney is currently incarcerated at the Pike County Jail. No mug shot was immediately available.

Troy Police arrested two people Friday, July 6th in connection with drug related crimes according to information released by Chief Jimmy Ennis.

Officers are also investigating the burglary of a storage building at a construction site on East Walnut Street and a criminal mischief at a church on South 3 Notch Street reported Monday July 9th. 

Victoria Paul, a 19-year-old black female, was arrested on an outstanding warrant at approximately 2:00 p.m. Friday July 6th on Aster Avenue for possession of marijuana 1st degree in connection with an incident that occurred on Thursday June 7th.

Troy Police also arrested Stephen Michael Rushing Friday July 6th approximately 7:00 pm.

Troy Police arrested Kendrick Dewayne Carter, a 31-year-old black male, Tuesday for possession of a controlled substance – crack cocaine and possession of marijuana 1st degree at approximately 10:00 a.m.

Troy Police arrest two on burglar and receiving stolen property charges

Troy Police have arrested two suspects in connection with the early Friday morning burglary of an occupied apartment on the 800 block of South Brundidge Street according to information released by Chief Jimmy Ennis.

The two black male suspects arrested are identified as 19-year-old Akeem Jamars Walker and 20-year-old Jeremy Jermain Swanson both from Troy. 

Walker was arrested Friday and charged with burglary 2nd degree and receiving stolen property 2nd degree.  His bond is $20,000.00 in the burglary charge and $5,000.00 in the receiving stolen property charge.  Swanson was arrested today at about 11:00 a.m.

Woman charged with 6 counts animal cruelty, horses seized

TROY, AL (WSFA) - Troy Police say a woman is in custody connected with an animal cruelty incident involving horses in Troy.

Troy Police were contacted by a horse owner who said his animals were abused after he left them in the care of another person. The man said he left three horses with an acquaintance while he went overseas. When he returned he found two of his horses very malnourished and near death. A third horse, which belonged to his son, died due to malnutrition.

An investigation revealed that the suspect had other horses on their property at this time - those horses were removed from the suspect's property.

Six animal cruelty warrants were signed against suspect Tanya Sessions, and she was arrested Thursday morning at approximately 9 a.m.
