Pike County Teacher a Class Act | News
Title (Max 100 Charaters)
BRUNDIDGE, AL (WSFA)- Ms. Sharon Denison is a teacher on the move. The academy of business and finance teacher at Pike County high school has taught for more than 20 years and spent the last 17 here in Brundidge. "I love these students like they are my own," Denison said. "They test you like any child would test you, but I love it."
Miss Denison knows what a huge impact she can have on her students lives. "There's a lot more to teaching than just the classroom. We want to instill in them good ethics, how to present themselves, a lot of life skills."
She's obviously reaching her students. A 12th grader nominated her for our Class Act award. "She always stays on us," said senior Shanterrica Shipman. "She makes sure we don't procrastinate. When we're not getting our work done she comes by to make sure we are on task. She's just a great teacher." Ms. Denison knows this classroom is a 2-way street. "I always tell them, if you want respect, then give respect. And that goes for me too. I respect them and they respect me."
Congratulations Ms. Sharon Denison from Pike County HS in Brundidge, you're this week's Class Act.
