Troy’s Brynden Trawick to play in Texas vs. the Nation All-Star Game | News
TROY, AL- Troy senior safety Brynden Trawick has been selected to play in the Texas vs. the Nation All-Star Game on Feb. 2 at Eagle Stadium in Allen Texas. FOX Sports will televise the eighth installment of the game live beginning at 7 p.m.
Trawick, a native of Marietta, Ga., earned All-Sun Belt honors in both his seasons with the Trojans, including first team recognition this past year. He finished his senior season with 83 tackles, three interceptions and four pass break ups. Trawick was named the Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week after racking up 15 tackles and a pair of tackles for loss at North Texas.
One of Trawick's interceptions came against Sun Belt Player of the Year Ryan Aplin from Arkansas State. Trawick took the interception 70 yards for a touchdown; it was the longest interception return by a Trojan since Leodis McKelvin's 71-yard return in 2004.
Trawick led the Trojans and the Sun Belt with 123 tackles in 2011 and finished the season sixth in the NCAA with 75 solo tackles. He transferred to Troy following one season at Northeast Mississippi Community College after beginning his career at Michigan State.
He is the fifth Trojan selected to play in a postseason all-star game this year. Linebacker Kanorris Davis and offensive lineman Kyle Wilborn were invited to play in the Raycom College Football All-Star Classic in Montgomery on Jan. 19, while running back Shawn Southward and offensive lineman Cody Woodiel will play in the CDS College All-Star Game on Friday in Tucson, Ariz.
